Attitude = a belief about people, groups, ideas, or activities.
People hold attitudes about all sorts of things politics, food, children, movies, sports, heroes, etc.
Some attitudes change with new experiences, and on occasion our attitudes change because we decide that we are wrong about something.

Explicit attitudes = we are aware of them, they shape our conscious decisions and actions, and they can be measured on self-report questionnaires.

Implicit Attitudes = we are unaware of them, they may influence our behavior in ways we do not recognize, and they are measured in various indirect ways.

Conformity = one thing that people in groups do is conform, taking action or adopting attitudes as a result of imagined group pressure.

Groupthink = the tendency to think alike and suppress dissent.

Diffusion of Responsibility = is when responsibility for an outcome is diffused, or spread among many people reducing each individuals personal sense of accountability.

Bystander apathy = in crowds people fail to action because they assume someone else will do so.

Consider the following:
Why do people in groups often go along with the majority even if the majority is wrong?
How can groupthink lead to bad, even catastrophic, decisions?
How can group think be used in positive ways?
